内容記述 | For the purpose of studying the way physical education class should be at university, we conducted a survey into tennis class participants' experience in tennis and their responses to tennis classes that they attended and are now attending. The results follow. 1) 72.5% of the respondents played tennis before they entered university. The females showed a higher percentage than the males did, but there was no noticeable difference between the respondents from Shizuoka and those from other prefectures. 2) More respondents of both sexes from Shizuoka played tennis for the first time at junior high school than at senior high school, but more respondents from other prefectures had their first experience of playing tennis at senior high school. Many respondents played softball tennis instead of hardball tennis, and the tendency was especially true of the Shizuoka respondents. 3) A larger number of respondents had their first exposure to tennis as a result of their choosing the sport in physical education class, and this was especially true with the females. 4) A high percentage of the respondents received just a brief or general, not thorough, instruction from their physical education instructor. 32% of the Shizuoka respondents and 18.5% of the respondents from other prefectures responded that during the class they were left to their own devices. The figures show that PE participants were instructionally less favorably treated in Shizuoka. 5) More respondents, males in particular, favorably evaluated the tennis class they took at junior or senior high school than otherwise. 6) The majority of respondents realized that tennis is a difficult sport to learn, but an enjoyable one to play. 7) 95% of the respondents favorably evaluated the tennis instructors' practical instruction at university. More than 96% of them gave a favorable response both to the instructors' theoretical explanations and to the class atmosphere as a whole. In their overall evaluation, 97.2% judged PE was worth it. | |||||
